One day in 1974, a young woman from the U.S. arrived in St. Barth for a vacation with her family. On the same day, a young man visiting the island from Guadeloupe, here to explore business opportunities in tourism, watched as the young American stepped from the plane and walked across the tarmac. It was love at first sight, but in more ways than one. He fell in love with her, she with him, and together the two of them fell in love with St. Barth.

That couple was Brook and Roger Lacour, and in those early years they let their passion for St. Barth guide them toward both personal and professional fulfillment. They married and made the island their home, raising two boys here and teaching them to cherish St. Barth’s pristine environment and unique culture. In 1975 they created Sibarth, recognizing that such a jewel could not remain hidden and in fact should be shared, and who better to shape the development of tourism on the island than those who love it the most? Brook and Roger recognized that the experience of visiting St. Barth would be more authentic and enjoyable if guests could find lodging in homes on the island, and they saw that a vibrant villa rental market would help make tourism sustainable without radically altering the island’s appearance or spirit.

Today, Brook and Roger have proudly welcomed their son Ashley Lacour and his partner Kristina Popova to bring a new generation of leadership to the company they founded thirty-seven years ago. Sibarth is a success story born out of a love story, and thanks to the Lacour family’s guiding principle that personal connection is the key to helping others enjoy the island, that love is going strong.
